WARREN and his 8-year old son JOEL are members of the Cape Metropolitan Homing Union. They are newcomers to the pigeon sport and 2016 was their first year of racing.
Warren and Joel started the 2016 season with 76 pigeons of which 15 were of the Vandenabeele lines of Bertus. The partnership surprised everyone with very good results from the start and finished as CLUB CHAMPIONS in their first year of racing.
THEIR BEST RESULTS (only 6 positions awarded in club races):
11 JUNE 2016 – 2,3,6 LAINGSBURG 230km: first two pigeons dropped together and both Vandenabeeles bred by Bertus.
18 JUNE 2016 – 1,2,3 LAINGSBURG 230km: three birds on the drop and all three Vandenabeeles of Bertus. In the SWP COMBINE they were 3,5,6 against 1960 pigeons and in the WCPTA they were 15,17,18 against 6352 pigeons.
25 JUNE 2016 – 1,2,3,4,5 LEEU GAMKA 310km: three birds on the drop and the pigeons that were 1,2,4 and 5 all Vandenabeeles bred by Bertus.
02 JULY 2016 – 1,2,3,5 BEAUFORT WEST 400km: two of the four Vandenabeeles bred by Bertus.
09 JULY 2016 – 4,6 LEEU GAMKA 310km: both birds bred by Bertus.
16 JULY 2016: 1,3,4,5,6 BEAUFORT WEST 400km: first and third birds bred by Bertus.
23 JULY 2016 – 1,2,3,4 VICTORIA WEST 500km: fourth bird bred by Bertus.
30 JULY 2016 – 2,5 BEAUFORT WEST 400km
06 AUGUST 2016 – 1,2,6 BRITSTOWN 580km
27 AUGUST 2016 – 3,4 BEAUFORT WEST 400km: second bird bred by Bertus.
Warren and Joel’s best birds in 2016 were ZA 15/22682, NRHU P/00314, WP 15/2036, WP 15/2025 and NRHU P15/00315. All of them (except 2025) are from the Vandenabeele lines of Bertus.
